Some while ago I started doing some basic bookeeping for a small firm. When they computerised their accounting systems I became more involved. One thing lead to another and I found I had an interest and aptitude for accountancy and bookkeeping.
Three years ago I decided to take the plunge and went for an interview at Thanet College. I decided to take the first stage of an accounting qualification with the Association of Accounting Technicians - known as the Foundation stage. With the help of some excellent tutors, I completed the Intermediate level and I am currently studying for the final Technician level.
Starting off was certainly daunting and it has not always been easy to juggle study around a full time job and family life. I'm glad I took the decision.
